Abstract

The research aimed to prepare a scale of the attitude towards learning for students, as well as to identify the effect of the cognitive contradiction strategy on the attitude towards learning and acquiring the skill of smashing in volleyball. The experimental approach was followed by designing two equivalent groups with a pre- and post-test. The main research sample consisted of (30) students from the second stage in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences - University of Babylon for the academic year (2023-2024). They were divided equally into two control and experimental groups. The research tools were the scale of the attitude towards learning and tests of technical performance and accuracy for the skill of smashing. The discriminatory ability, internal consistency, validity, stability and objectivity of the scale and the smashing tests were verified, the results of which were processed by appropriate statistical means. On this basis, the researchers made several conclusions, including: reaching the preparation of a scale of the attitude towards learning in volleyball for students, and it was recommended that the cognitive contradiction strategy be introduced into the educational units of the volleyball course for its great role in increasing the attitude towards learning and acquiring the skill of smashing
