**The Effect of the Pentagram Strategy on Teaching Some Basic Skills on the Floor Exercise Mat in Artistic Gymnastics for Female Students.**

Abstract

The importance of this research lies in improving the performance level of female students in some basic skills in artistic gymnastics through the use of the pentagram strategy, which consists of five stages that enable the student to identify and analyze the skill, then plan and apply it, and finally evaluate the performance. The research problem was that the performance level of the female students did not reach the required level of error-free performance, especially for third-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, as this stage is considered fundamental and complements the second stage, thus requiring precision in mastering these skills. The research objective was to identify the effect of the pentagram strategy in teaching some basic skills on the floor exercise mat to female students. The experimental method was used, and the research population was third-year female students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra. After applying the method, the most important conclusion was reached: the educational program using the pentagram strategy achieved success in teaching and learning some basic skills on the floor exercise mat in artistic gymnastics to female students. The most important recommendations were reached: Adopting the pentagram strategy in teaching and learning some basic skills on the floor exercise mat, in addition to other skills on the various gymnastics apparatus for both genders.
